Screenshot Guide

The wiki uses current screenshots where they exist and explicit placeholders where a visual would materially improve a task. This page is the capture checklist for replacing placeholders over time.

Privacy rules for every capture

  • Use an isolated test Unraid system and fictional workloads.
  • Enable FolderView Plus Privacy where applicable.
  • Remove server names, usernames, IP/MAC addresses, paths, URLs, serials, license details, terminal history, notifications, and unrelated widgets.
  • Never include tokens, cookies, CSRF values, credentials, private repositories, or raw bundles.
  • Capture the latest implemented interface documented by this Wiki and record the plugin version used.
  • Use PNG at readable native resolution; avoid aggressive compression.
  • Capture light and dark variants when color/theme is the subject.
  • Capture desktop and smartphone variants when layout is the subject.

Existing screenshots

Home/setup pages already reference Docker Basic, VM Basic, Setup Assistant, Advanced Settings, Docker runtime folders, Folder Editor, Rules, Start Order, Recovery, Activity Center, and dark theme images from the source repository.

Replacement procedure

  1. Capture and privacy-review the image.
  2. Add it under docs/images/screenshots/ in the source repository through a normal reviewed change.
  3. Update the corresponding wiki placeholder to the stable raw image URL.
  4. Add descriptive alt text that explains the task, not visual decoration.
  5. Verify the wiki at normal and mobile widths.

Placeholders are intentional documentation tasks, not claims that a feature is unfinished.
