  • Intelligent agent orchestration using Microsoft Agent Framework
Leverage Microsoft Foundry's Agent Framework with an orchestrator agent that uses automatic tool selection to route customer queries to specialized agents (catalog/product lookup and policy/knowledge). The orchestrator analyzes user intent and automatically invokes the appropriate specialist agent as a tool, ensuring queries are handled by the most capable agent for each task.

  • Multi-scenario deployment
Choose ecommerce (Contoso Paints), healthcare (Contoso Health), or banking (Contoso Banking) per environment. Each scenario packs its own host UI, API surface, search indexes, seed data, and Foundry agent instructions under scenarios/.

  • Embeddable chat widget
The chat experience ships as a standalone widget (widget.js) from the chat frontend and embeds into the scenario host. Customers get text chat with product/service cards where applicable, plus Voice Live for spoken conversations—without coupling the host UI to the chat stack.

  • Hybrid search capabilities
Foundry IQ provides fast, accurate catalog and policy document retrieval using semantic and keyword search, enabling natural language queries across industry knowledge bases. Specialized agents access scenario-specific search indexes to retrieve relevant information.

  • Natural language interaction
Microsoft Foundry's Agent Framework orchestrates multi-agent workflows using GPT-5.4-mini to deliver conversational, context-aware responses that understand customer intent. The framework maintains conversation threads and context across sessions, enabling natural, flowing conversations with specialized agents. Voice Live uses the same Foundry pipeline with scenario-aware grounding.

  • Modern scenario host experience
React-based host frontend for browsing the industry catalog (paints, clinical services, or banking products) with an integrated floating chat assistant for seamless discovery and support

  • Scalable data architecture
Azure Cosmos DB stores catalogs, transactions/orders, and chat history with high availability and global distribution, ensuring fast access to customer and catalog data

Guidance

Prerequisites and costs

To deploy this solution accelerator, ensure you have access to an Azure subscription with the necessary permissions to create resource groups, resources, app registrations, and assign roles at the resource group level. This should include Contributor role at the subscription level and Role Based Access Control role on the subscription and/or resource group level.

Here are some example regions where the services are available: East US, East US2, Australia East, UK South, France Central.

Check the Azure Products by Region page and select a region where the following services are available.

Pricing varies by region and usage, so it isn't possible to predict exact costs for your usage. The majority of Azure resources used in this infrastructure are on usage-based pricing tiers. However, some services—such as Azure Container Registry, which has a fixed cost per registry per day, and others like Azure Cosmos DB or App Service when provisioned—may incur baseline charges regardless of actual usage.

Use the Azure pricing calculator to calculate the cost of this solution in your subscription.

Review a sample pricing sheet in the event you want to customize and scale usage.

Note: This is not meant to outline all costs as selected SKUs, scaled use, customizations, and integrations into your own tenant can affect the total consumption of this sample solution. The sample pricing sheet is meant to give you a starting point to customize the estimate for your specific needs.

⚠️ Important: To avoid unnecessary costs, remember to take down your app if it's no longer in use, either by deleting the resource group in the Portal or running azd down.

Business scenario

The solution provides an industry host experience with an embedded AI chat assistant, enabling customers to browse catalog content, get recommendations, and receive support through natural language (text and voice).

The sample data illustrates how this accelerator can be used for customer service across multiple industries. Deploy one scenario per Azure environment. Sample questions below are grounded in each scenario’s catalog and policy documents.

Ecommerce — Contoso Paints (default)

Contoso Paints is a paint retailer looking to provide exceptional support through an intelligent chatbot. Customers previously had to navigate complex product catalogs and policy documents, or contact support for help. With the accelerator, they browse paint shades on the host site and use the embedded chat widget for color recommendations, warranties, and returns. The orchestrator routes queries to a product agent and a policy agent so answers stay grounded in the catalog and company documents.

Try asking:

  • "I'm looking for a cool, blue-toned paint that feels calm but not gray"
  • "Show me warm white paint colors"
  • "What's your warranty policy?"
  • "What is your return policy?"

Healthcare — Contoso Health

Contoso Health uses the same pattern for a patient-facing hospital experience. The host UI surfaces clinical services and departments; the chat widget answers questions about services, visiting hours, billing, and patient rights—without providing medical diagnosis or emergency care advice.

Try asking:

  • "What are visiting hours?"
  • "Tell me about primary care services"
  • "Do you offer radiology and imaging?"
  • "What are patient rights related to billing?"

Banking — Contoso Banking

Contoso Banking demonstrates deposit, lending, and card products with an assistant for account features, fees, and digital banking policies. The experience is informational only and must not collect or expose full account numbers, PINs, or passwords.

Try asking:

  • "What savings options are available?"
  • "Show me the credit cards you offer"
  • "What's included with Everyday Checking?"
  • "How do I report suspected fraud?"

⚠️ The sample data used in this repository is synthetic and generated. The data is intended for use as sample data only. Healthcare and banking scenarios are demos only—not medical devices, medical advice, or financial advice.
