simplecov 1.0.0 (released 2026-07-12) removed the `running` method, which datadog-ci ~> 1.11 calls in its deprecated_total_coverage_metric module. This causes the test suite to exit with code 3 after all tests pass. Pin to < 1.0.0 until datadog-ci adds compatibility with simplecov 1.x.
