I think it would be nice if when cloning a new repo the location you put it in your folder structure becomes the default grouping. For instance if my default repo clone dir is D:/Repos and I place a new repo in the parent folder D:/Repos/Personal/Services/ then the grouping would be Personal:Services.
In general I like to keep my Repository groups in sync with my folder structure so I can use the Rescan Repositories from Default Clone Dir feature.
As an additional feature request I think it would be nice if the group dropdown show the full group path. So that if I had multiple Services folder for instance one at D:/Repos/Personal/Services/ and another at D:/Repos/Work/Services they both would not just show up as Services in the group drop down when cloning a new repo. This makes it difficult to know which Services group I am selecting. Instead they should show up as Personal:Services and Work:Services to make it more clear which one is which.
Obviously if the first feature request is done then I wouldn't have to worry about selecting the correct one because it would just default to the correct one based on the parent directory selected.
