Note

This issue is blocked until after the first release of Scribe-Android, but could be done soon after. The research of whether Google's rating modal can be used could also be done before the release.

We would like to update the way that the ratings functionality works on Scribe-Android after the first release. These changes would happen in RatingHelper.kt. We either want to use the Google model for ratings, if this works across Android stores, or if not we'd need to make our own.

had a look @andrewtavis , looks like we might have to build our own system for third party app stores.

Thanks for checking in here, @ashb155! I think some something that links to the app on any given store would be fine. We don't necessarily need the stars selection before we navigate (I'm used to this from iOS). How would we be able to figure out which store the app was downloaded from though? Then we can just do a conditional and have the link go to the given store or open the Play Store app to the appropriate app. We also need to do this regardless as we need the keyboard app and conjugate apps to navigate to different pages :)

i think using Android's PackageManager we could use getInstallerPackageName (till Android API 30) and getInstallSourceInfo (API 30+) methods as per what i read @andrewtavis
