Issue Subcategory:

Focus not managed for invoked elements

User Experience:

Keyboard users cannot easily find or reach a newly opened popup, dialog, or menu. They must Tab through the entire page to reach the new content, or may not discover it at all.

Repro Steps:

Start NArrator/NVDA --> Launch URL https://dccentral-test.microsoft.com/workspace?DDUROUTE=true --> Workspace --> Edit Workspace --> Add widget

Actual Result:

Focus moves outside the Edit Workspace dialog and lands on content behind the modal.
When a popup, dialog, or menu is opened, focus remains on the trigger element instead of moving to the first focusable element within the new content.

Expected Result:

Focus should move programmatically to the first focusable element of the invoked popup, dialog, or menu when it opens.

How to fix:

Use JavaScript to move focus to the dialog’s first focusable element on open. Return focus to the trigger element when the dialog closes.

Environment details:

Application Name: MCIO-GDCO-LaborReferenceSystem
URL: https://dccentral-test.microsoft.com/workspace?DDUROUTE=true
Chromium Edge version: Microsoft Edge version 149.0.0.0 (Official Build) (64-bit)
OS: Windows 11 Enterprise Insider Preview 26200.8655
