How to get SSH FS working?

Whenever I try to edit the config I get the error "React Dev server not started" on 127.0.0.1:3000

Is this a plugin that will not work on the browser version?

Hmm... I'm not sure how that extension works under the hood 🤔 But if you post steps to reproduce this, I'm happy to see if I get the same thing locally using the open-vsx version of this extension

Yeah of course.
I installed the code-server using the script in the readme file, did the login process. Installed the SSH FS plugin, went to the new tab created by the plugin. Clicked the "Create a SSH FS configuration` icon and I get the following error:

I have also tried it through Docker in case I'm missing any dependencies and I'm still having the same error.

I found where the error happens.

Usually when you run a React app in code-server, you have to make a few adjustments to get it working (see docs) so my hunch says you'd have to make those changes in the extension to get it to work, but maybe not. Wondering if @code-asher has any thoughts?

Thank you for your fast reply! I'm able to manually change the config file and the extension works as expected. It only seems to be the config screen that is effected.

Ahhh got it. Well looking at the original code, it seems like it's using React to render the webview? And because of that, the webview won't load. There could be another webview issue in code-server (we've had that in the past). But yeah, my hunch is you'd need to modify the settings for the React app in the extension so that it can work with code-server's proxy

Looks like the extension is trying to connect to 127.0.0.1 from the web view which will not work since that is your local machine and not where code-server is running.

The extension will need to be modified to use code-server's proxy I think. The vscode-R extension has a similar problem, see #1510.

I have this issue since upgrading to v3.12.0; links in previews worked perfectly well with v3.10.2. I didn't use v3.11.x because I couldn't get the Python extension working.

Thanks for the screenshots and the console export. Some of the errors look familiar. Do you mind opening an issue? That will be easier for us to track (vs this Discussion) and then we can take a look.

Fixing #4219 should resolve the WebView and [wrong links in] Preview issue.
