This refers to the instantiation of the image in a 'canonical media format'.

OTOH, image content is clearly understood to be a kind of Representational Information Content Entity cco:ont00001069 (RICE) as indicated by the example "the content of a photograph of the Statue of Liberty represents the Statue of Liberty".

I suggest

1. relabelling cco:ont00002004 to Image presentation (the term "presented" appears in the definition of cco:ont00002001).
2. adding a subclass of RICE labelled Image content.

Not all images are representational, for instance abstract art. E.g what do the majority of the images here represent? To say a particular image is representational add the assertion 'represents ' and it will be classified as a representational information content entity by virtue of that term's equivalentTo axiom. Or directly assert it's type as Representational Information Content Entity.

As it is, the definition of image is either too narrow, or mislabeled. It might properly be called 'representational image'. A representational image =def an image that represents some entity. Finding a good definition of image, in general, is not easy. One try: An information content entity created with the intent of having some concretizations being displayed or analyzed on a two-dimensional surface.

Regarding the proposal, what is an example of an image presentation that is not an image? Perhaps clearer: A ICE, as a GDC exists in virtue of its concretizations. How do the concretizations of an image presentation differ from those of an image.
