[Feedback] Various feature requests, UI suggestions, and possible bugs

What a phenomenal project! Thank you for sharing it with the world. I like it so much that I even translated a few strings into Polish on Crowdin. Thank you for this wonderful launcher! I have a few ideas, suggestions, and observations. I'm not a developer, so please forgive me if some of these suggestions would be disproportionately difficult to implement or have already been discussed before. I'm also not very familiar with navigating GitHub. Sorry, but I don't think it makes sense to split all of these suggestions into more than 10 separate issues :)

What I noticed:

• When multi-page mode is enabled, it would be great to be able to mark one page as the default (main) page, so that focus returns to it after unlocking the device.

• Main Buttons Size (on the Home Screen) - I would love to be able to adjust their size.

• The Logo Button could optionally have a monochrome (icon) style.

• App List - there should be some kind of separator between Starred (favorite) apps and all Other apps. It could be anything: a blank line, "-", etc.

• It might be worth considering some kind of OLED burn-in prevention mode.

• It would be great to add an action for tapping the Logo: "Switch app theme" (light/dark).

• The "Show app usage statistics" option is very useful, but I think the all-day summary displayed at the bottom of the Home Screen is unnecessary. It might be better to remove this summary or at least provide an option to disable it. I use AmpereFlow daily (to monitor charging progress), and unfortunately the charging time is added to the total screen time shown at the bottom of the Home Screen.

• Instead of the text "No alarm is set.", it might be better to show a simple monochrome crossed-out alarm clock icon.

• When I enable "hide_search_view", the "open_apps_on_enter" option should probably no longer be displayed.

• It might be worth adding separate color settings for light mode and dark mode fonts. Alternatively, there could be an option to automatically invert text colors when switching themes.

• App icons are not displayed when the App List is centered on the screen. They are only visible when the apps are aligned to the left or right. This affects both Home Apps and Drawer Apps.

• In the Element Colors section, there is an option called "Rainbow Shortcuts". I am not sure how it works, or perhaps it does not seem to have any effect on my device.

• In the Toggleable Elements section, there is an option called "App List Buttons", where Network can be enabled. This adds a network icon next to the search field in the App List, but tapping that Network icon does not appear to do anything.

These are just some quick thoughts after a few days of use. If I find anything else, I'll be happy to share it.

You have to search something before tapping that icon as that is web search.

Yes as adding icons to both sides when centered would look messy so they are just disabled maybe I'll add an option for what side the icons should be for all 3 options.

I never really made the light / dark mode to be switched all the time as I myself never change away from dark mode and find it pointless switching all the time or even automatically with the day and night cycle.

Good shout I will add a setting to disable that.i never use it so didn't think about that.

I will add this to all gestures in the next update as I am unable to add it to only one.

Android already does this on the system level. I could add a brightness setting for the launcher so it overrides the system brightness if that helps.

Thank you for your replies and for taking the time to look into my feedback. I really appreciate it :)

I did some additional testing regarding the Rainbow Shortcuts option.

Before enabling Rainbow Shortcuts, I had already set a custom shortcut color from the beginning, so I actually never saw the rainbow effect in practice on my setup. Even after restarting the launcher, changing themes, and toggling Rainbow Shortcuts off and on again, the shortcuts continue to use the user-selected color. It seems that the custom color overrides Rainbow Shortcuts, and I could not find a way to restore the default rainbow behavior without clearing the app's data.

I also noticed something that may be related. After setting custom colors, some visual elements no longer seem to react to theme changes (Light/Dark). I may be mistaken, but I vaguely remember the default theme behavior adapting colors automatically. Perhaps custom color settings are overriding theme-dependent colors in a similar way.

As a feature suggestion, it could be useful to allow separate color settings for Light and Dark themes, or optionally adapt/invert text colors automatically when switching themes. Supporting separate wallpapers for each theme could also be a nice addition.

PS. I found another issue ;) (or perhaps a limitation of the launcher). When mLauncher is set as the default launcher, I cannot create Home Screen shortcuts from third-party apps. For example, when using QuickShort, Android reports that the launcher does not support adding shortcuts. The same shortcut can be added successfully when using a different launcher.

Update: I performed a clean installation on another device and tested Rainbow Shortcuts without modifying any color settings. The same issue occurs there as well, so it does not seem to be related to my previous custom color configuration. Restarting the phone did not make any difference.

Have you also tested color instead of monochrome?

You’re right! :) Rainbow Shortcuts seem to work as soon as a color other than #FFFFFF, #000000, or #808080 is used :)
